Welcome to the National Hygiene Partnership

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) NOTICE: The National Hygiene Partnership (NHP) is continually monitoring COVID-19 advice from the HSE and Government measures in Response to COVID-19. NHP is working with our trainers based in our Colleges and Institutes of Further Education, and also with our individual trainers on the basis of these guidelines. We urge all of our colleagues, learners and partners to adhere to what is best practice all times and fully respond to the latest advice from State Agencies and Government in what is a very fluid, changing and uncertain situation.

The NHP understands and appreciates that this situation will cause concern and put pressure on trainers who are conducting contact courses and no doubt on the requirement to complete these courses. In response to this, the advice is to follow what is now the up to date advice and minimise social contact in all its forms. We would advise that if courses can be conducted and proceeded with via social media platforms this should be the preferred option. Projects can be submitted by PDF for now, with hard copies been submitted at a later date. We will continue to be flexible in our response to trainers who have had to cancel and or perhaps defer courses, and our Administrator will respond to each individual concern regarding these issues.

As you are aware, the NHP Office is co-located with safefood at Abbey Court; Block B, Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1 and is staffed by one part time administrator and it is busy in normal times transacting the business of the NHP.

As of today, the 16th March, the office is operating remotely, adhering to normal working hours of 9am to 1pm. In this scenario, we will continue to conduct our business in so far as possible, however there will be limitations in what can be achieved. For example course material may not be dispatched to trainers or papers forwarded to assessors. Our Administrator will be contactable by phone and email at the remote working location using the normal NHP phone number and email address.

We will endeavour to deal with all queries, and as the situation evolves respond accordingly. We wish all our trainers and learners well and encourage them to engage with the NHP, but please be patient as our staff and resources are limited. Again we exhort all to adhere to the public health advice regarding measures to be put in place to curtail the spread of this virus.

The NHP website will be updated as required in response to the evolving situation.

Following an in-depth strategic review in 2009 it was decided to expand the scope of the National Hygiene Partnership to embrace the wider food industry. The NHP now represents the food safety training requirements of thirteen member organizations comprised of Government Agencies and Industry Representative Bodies that have a key interest in and responsibility for the promotion of food hygiene. The NHP Management Committee is drawn from representatives of each of these member organisations.

The Management of Food Hygiene Programme, The Essential Guide to HACCP Compliance, was designed to enable food businesses to conform to EU Food Safety legislation. It also addresses the– Level 3 Food Safety Skills requirements for Managers and Supervisors as defined by Food Safety Authority of Ireland.

The “Hygiene Matters” training publications have been developed by the National Hygiene Partnership for the purpose of improving Hygiene and Food Safety standards within the entire food sector.
